Balancing Breath


I have found using the breath to be the most effective, efficient and powerful way to add sparkle and vibrancy to my body, mind and spirit and I love sharing breathwork techniques with those who seek a simple means to do the same.

Balancing Breath for Centering Self
(aka Alternate Nostril Breathing)
When energy is not balanced, one of the most visible ways in which this is seen is in the nostrils. Most of the time, one or the other nostril is more dominant, allowing air to move more freely. This is a natural process, however, Alternate Nostril Breathing can help regulate the physical breath and balance the flow of air through both nostrils. This effects the autonomic nervous system and brings balance by allowing energy to flow in the center, rather than on the left or right side. In this state, the mind relaxes and the body is cleared of impurities.
Use this breath for centering, balancing and clearing the body of toxins. A must after having been exposed to any toxic fumes.

Take 5...
and place the thumb of the right hand over the right nostril and plug it while exhaling through the left nostril. Now breathe into the left nostril to the count of 8. With the tips of the pointer and middle fingers resting on the third eye (point between the eyebrows), hold the breath in to the count of 8. Now plug the left nostril with the ring finger of the right hand and exhale through the right nostril to a count of 8, then hold the breath out for a count of 8. Again plug the right nostril with the thumb and repeat the cycle ten times.
